We will be having a track and field season this year. Registration should be live on this site on February 1, 2021.
We look forward to seeing Flyers from our very successful 2019 Cross Country Season and those Flyers who run Track and Field that we have not seen in a while as well as any new athletes who will be joining the team.
We will continue to follow pandemic protocols at check-in this year so every athlete will need to arrive in a mask and have their temperature taken at check-in. We will also ask athletes to bring their own water bottles and a yoga mat/beach towel for stretching. If parents stay at practices they will need to have their temperature taken upon arrival and wear a mask if they are congregating in an area where they can't social distance .
The community can support Cape Fear Flyers NC Inc in a couple ways through the Amazon Smiles program. If you link your Amazon account to Cape Fear Flyers NC Inc with the Amazon Smiles program Amazon will donate .05% of all eligible purchases to Cape Fear Flyers NC Inc. at no extra cost to you. It may not seem like a lot but every little bit helps. This link https://smile.amazon.com/ch/47-1900587 will take you to our Amazon Smiles page.
Cape Fear Flyers NC Inc. also have a Charity Wish List of items we need to train our athletes and administer practices during a pandemic. https://smile.amazon.com/hz/charitylist/ls?ref_=org_prt_btn_vcl
We are in need of an enclosed cargo trailer about 6' x 12' for the teams equipment, picture is just an example for attention. We will be using the trailer not just to store the equipment but also to transport the equipment to practices and meets. We are hoping to raise $3,000 to defer the cost of the trailer. That being said if you know anyone selling a trailer or who might donate/sponsor the trailer please let the board know asap via email firstname.lastname@example.org. If we do get the trailer donated any raised funds will go towards paying for a place to park the trailer, the trailers registration, and insurance.
The Cape Fear Flyers is a non-profit organization that offers USATF sanctioned and AAU affiliated Junior Olympic Cross Country and Track & Field training, for athletes ages 6-18, at an affordable rate to ensure that children from all socioeconomic groups have the opportunity to experience the lifetime benefits of running.
The Cape Fear Flyer’s Cross Country season takes place in the fall (September - December). The program teaches kids the fundamentals of long distance running, in a fun, competitive, and team-centric environment. We compete in several cross country meets locally, as well as the USATF State Cross Country meet at Hagan Stone Park near Greensboro, and the Foot Locker South Regionals at McAlpine Park near Charlotte. Over the past five years, the Club has earned multiple first place Team awards, and many top individual podium finishes, including two individual State Champions. The Flyers also participate in local trail and road races during the season, including our own Monster Dash in the Carolina Beach State Park..
Track and Field
The Cape Fear Flyer’s Track & Field season takes place in the spring/summer (March- July). The program teaches kids the fundamentals of running, throwing, and jumping in a fun, competitive, and team-centric environment. We compete in a few local meets, as well as traveling to meets in Fayetteville, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, and Durham. In the past few years, the Flyers have had several athletes qualify to run at the USATF and/or AAU Junior Olympic National Championships. We have had athletes medal at these events in running and field events, including national champions. For athletes ages 6-18.
