The circumstances of this year have been hard on everyone. The Cape Fear Flyers were not immune to the struggle because of the pandemic we were not able to train together for track and field season, this made us more determined then ever to get back together for a cross country season.
We started our season in late August we began meeting for practices in Veterans Park, each athlete arrived with a mask on and got their temperature taken before practice began. We ended up with a total of 37 athletes by the end of the season. Team members competed at a total of 9 meets/races this season.
The last meet of the regular Flyer season was the North Carolina AAU District Cross Country Championships on November 14 in Concord, NC at Frank Liske Park. A total of 9 Flyers competed at this meet which qualified all 9 to participate at Nationals in Tallahassee, FL on December 5.
The season closed with the End of Season Celebration on November 18.
We are in need of an enclosed cargo trailer about 6' x 12' for the teams equipment, picture is just an example for attention. We will be using the trailer not just to store the equipment but also to transport the equipment to practices and meets. We are hoping to raise $3,000 to defer the cost of the trailer. That being said if you know anyone selling a trailer or who might donate/sponsor the trailer please let the board know asap via email email@example.com. If we do get the trailer donated any raised funds will go towards paying for a place to park the trailer, the trailers registration, and insurance.
